Information and communications technology
Nowadays, we are immersed in an evident revolution: we use information and technological devices that a few years ago were unthinkable. The way we live and work has changed drastically. We need a whole new set of skills to develop and integrate into adult life, in a hyper-connected society in a constant and increasing change. The students must be prepared to adapt to this new society.
Teaching "basic competences" is an imperative part of the curriculum. Developing digital competence within the educational system requires a correct integration of ICT in the classroom and teacher training in this competence
The subject of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) prepares students to function in an adaptive framework; beyond a simple digital literacy focused on the management of tools that will become obsolete in a short period of time, it is necessary to provide the knowledge, skills and aptitudes to facilitate a permanent learning throughout the whole life, so that students can adapt to the demands arising in the field of ICT. On the other hand, students must be able to integrate and link these learnings with other subjects.
In 4º ESO, students should be provided with the necessary skills to adapt ICTs changes. Students require fluency with information technologies to be fully developed in a technological society in order to continue his/her studies or to incorporate into the work force (page 531)
